Delete Your Penbroke Account

Last Updated: August 3, 2026

You may permanently delete your Penbroke account and request deletion of the personal information associated with it.

Penbroke is operated by The Curving Point Ltd.

Deleting the Penbroke application from your phone does not automatically delete your Penbroke account or information stored with that account.

Delete Your Account Inside Penbroke

The quickest way to initiate deletion is from inside the Penbroke app:

  1. Open Penbroke.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Open Account Settings.
  4. Select Delete Account.
  5. Review the deletion notice.
  6. Confirm that you want to permanently delete your account.

You may be asked to sign in again or complete another verification step to protect your account from unauthorised deletion.

Apple permits reasonable identity-verification and confirmation steps, but the process must remain straightforward and must delete the complete account rather than only suspending or disabling it.

Request Deletion Through This Website

When you cannot access the Penbroke app, you may request account deletion by emailing:

info@thecurvingpoint.com

Send the request from the email address associated with your Penbroke account whenever possible.

Use the subject line:

Penbroke Account Deletion Request

Include:

  • The email address associated with your Penbroke account
  • Your Penbroke display name, when applicable
  • A clear statement that you want your Penbroke account permanently deleted
  • Whether you can still access the Penbroke app
  • Any relevant information that may help us locate the correct account

Do not send your password, verification code, financial information, or government identification documents unless an authorised Penbroke representative specifically explains why additional verification is legally necessary.

Identity Verification

To protect users from unauthorised deletion, we may need to verify that the request was made by the account holder.

Verification may include:

  • Asking you to send the request from the account’s registered email address
  • Sending a confirmation message to that email address
  • Asking you to sign in again
  • Requesting limited account information needed to identify the account

We will not ask you to provide your Penbroke password.

A request may be delayed when we cannot confirm ownership of the account.

Information Deleted With Your Account

Subject to the limited exceptions described below, account deletion is intended to remove information associated with your Penbroke account, including:

  • Your Penbroke account and authentication record
  • Your email address
  • Your display name
  • Your profile photograph
  • Your profile information
  • Synced reading progress
  • Saved books
  • Bookmarks
  • Highlights
  • Underlines
  • Pins
  • Notes
  • Private journal entries
  • Synced reader preferences
  • Reading streak and activity information
  • Community questions, responses, comments, and replies associated with your account
  • Likes and other community interactions
  • Blocked-user preferences
  • Other personal information stored specifically to provide your account

Apple states that associated user-generated content, including text posts and reviews, is generally expected to be deleted with the account unless retention is legally required.

Information Stored Only on Your Device

Some Penbroke information may be stored locally on your phone, including:

  • Downloaded chapters
  • Offline reading information
  • Locally stored reading settings
  • Cached book and chapter information
  • Other temporary app data

Account deletion may not immediately remove every file already stored locally on your device.

To remove remaining local Penbroke information, you may:

  1. Remove downloaded chapters through Offline Reading, where available.
  2. Sign out of Penbroke.
  3. Delete the Penbroke app from your device.

Deleting locally stored information does not cancel a pending account-deletion request.

Information We May Retain

Most information associated with your account will be deleted. However, limited information may be retained where reasonably necessary for:

  • Compliance with applicable law
  • Fraud and abuse prevention
  • Security investigations
  • Enforcement of the Penbroke Terms of Use
  • Moderation and safety records
  • Copyright or other legal complaints
  • Dispute resolution
  • Protection of Penbroke users
  • Tax, accounting, or transaction-record obligations
  • Establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims

Information retained for these purposes will be limited and will not be used to continue providing an active Penbroke account.

Backup copies may remain temporarily until they are overwritten or securely removed through ordinary backup processes.

Community Contributions

When your account is deleted, community contributions associated with your account will ordinarily be deleted or otherwise removed from association with your identity.

Limited records may remain when necessary to:

  • Investigate harassment, threats, fraud, or abuse
  • Preserve the integrity of moderation decisions
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Protect another user
  • Respond to a legal or copyright complaint
  • Prevent a suspended user from evading enforcement

Deleting your account may not remove copies of content that another user previously captured or shared outside Penbroke.

Anonymous Contributions

Posts submitted anonymously are still connected internally to the account that created them for moderation, security, and abuse-prevention purposes.

When the associated account is deleted, anonymous contributions will be handled under the same deletion and retention principles as other community contributions.

Processing Your Request

After receiving a valid request, we may:

  1. Confirm receipt.
  2. Verify that you own the account.
  3. Review whether any subscriptions, unresolved reports, legal obligations, or security issues require additional information.
  4. Begin deletion of the account and associated information.
  5. Confirm when the deletion process has been completed.

When additional time is required, we will provide available information about the status of the request. Apple’s guidance permits manual deletion processes, provided users are told when completion will take additional time and receive confirmation when deletion is complete.

Account Deletion Is Permanent

Account deletion cannot ordinarily be undone.

After deletion:

  • You may no longer be able to sign in
  • Synced reading progress may be permanently lost
  • Saved books and bookmarks may be permanently lost
  • Highlights, notes, and journal entries may be permanently lost
  • Community contributions may be removed
  • Your former account may not be recoverable

Creating a new Penbroke account later will not necessarily restore information from the deleted account.

Before confirming deletion, save any original personal writing you wish to keep outside Penbroke.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Penbroke does not currently offer paid subscriptions or in-app purchases.

If subscriptions or paid content are introduced later, deleting your Penbroke account may not automatically cancel billing managed through Apple or Google.

Applicable cancellation instructions will be displayed before account deletion and added to this page before paid services are introduced.

Cancelling a Deletion Request

Contact info@thecurvingpoint.com immediately if you submitted a deletion request by mistake.

We may be able to cancel the request only if deletion has not already been completed.

Once the account and associated information have been permanently deleted, recovery may not be possible.

Delete Specific Information Without Deleting Your Account

Depending on the feature, Penbroke may allow you to delete individual information without deleting your entire account, including:

  • Profile photographs
  • Community responses
  • Comments and replies
  • Highlights
  • Notes
  • Journal entries
  • Bookmarks
  • Downloaded chapters

Removing individual information does not delete your Penbroke account.
